At Families in Telford, it is our mission to:

-
Always respect and understand the individuals we support.
-
To provide a nurturing environment for children living in poverty and for their parents that may have lacked this in their own childhoods.
-
To help our adult service users achieve better educational attainment and have more fulfilling lives and careers.
-
To always be welcoming, friendly and approachable.
-
To be as our service users describe us - 'One big family'.
Families in Telford is different to other services:

-
We do not charge a fee to attend.
We strongly believe that financial difficulties are no reason for children, or their adults to miss out on those wonderful growing up experiences. -
We all work together.
Staff, volunteers and parents/carers who wish to take an active roll in the project are all equally welcome to do so. -
We are a community project.
We work with service users, our venues, local churches, local charities and healthcare services to name just a few. -
We encourage continued support.
Once you walk out of the doors, the support does not end. Staff are available to discuss concerns outside of group hours and support from peers is always on going.
You will struggle to find friendlier families than those in our project!

One Mum's story
"From being in an abusive relationship and with an ex trying to turn people against me, I was no stranger to feeling alone and isolated."
Jo's story
"I have been attending the group with my son for three years. Before I arrived at Families in Telford I had no friends and barely spoke to anyone on a daily basis, having moved to Telford from a completely different part of the country."
Rachael's story
"Rachael was attending Sutton Hill Families Project in 2000 during her second pregnancy. Following the birth of her second child she developed a serious postnatal depression and felt suicidal."
Lisa's story
"She enjoyed the groups and despite having left school without qualifications decided after the support of her project workers that she would be interested in applying for a similar role to theirs."
A Dad's story
"Although I rarely attend myself due to being at work, there has been a real benefit to our family from being part of the Families in Telford project."
